Geerte was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1964. Her career as an artist started at age 17 when she was awarded with a recognition in the Guiness Book of World Records for creating the world's longest painting, "Van Polder tot Stad," commissioned by the City of Amsterdam, Holland.

After graduating from the Academy of Art in Utrecht, Holland in 1987, she was awarded with "The Andy Warhol Scholarship." This enabled her to graduate at The New York Academy of Art in 1991 and obtain a rare Master of Fine Arts Degree in Art Anatomy and Renaissance techniques.

Since then she has had numerous exhibits and performances, founded several artist communities and multi-media projects in Europe and The United States and has taught various art courses. She has executed both public and private commissions as well. She founded and directed art gallery "Figure it out...!" in New York City and organized the Lower East Side Art Gallery Collective "The Edge". Her art work has been reviewed in art magazines such as "While You Were Sleeping" and "Direct Art Buyer".

Geerte received training in 3D animation at the Center for Advanced Digital Applications at New York University. She produced traditional animation, character modeling and 3D animation for television, film and the web at Animation NYC, a division of National Video Center and Recording Studios Inc. in New York. She then moved on to become the Lead Character Modeler at Pulse Entertainment in San Francisco, CA where she modeled, painted and rigged models for clients such as Warner Brothers, Nike, Britney Spears, Budweiser, NBC, Mattel, KROQ, CBS Moneymarket, Anatomical Travelogue,  etc.

Geerte currently resides in Austin, TX with her daughter Jasmine. She actively paints and exhibits her own art. She recently finished illustrations for her first children's picture book. She works on commissioned art projects, 3D character models, illustrations, graphics, murals and photographs. Geerte develops content and teaches art and animation at both graduate and undergraduate level at several online educational institutions as well.
